We are saddened that on an issue so indicative of fundamental principles that our Senator Susan Collins voted against what the vast majority of rank and file Maine Republicans believed to be right and true. Senator Collins’ impeachment vote undercut the leadership of the Republican Party and sided with those Democrat politicos engaged in an unconstitutional power play. The vast majority of Republicans in her home state and throughout the country, clearly came to a different conclusion and cannot understand or accept Collin’s jumping into the arms of a leftist political machine that despises everything Republicans hold dear, and supposedly Collins did too. What was the difference that led her to what many would consider a betrayal? She needs to explain to the Republican voters if she does indeed oppose the tenets of the Democrat Party which is now the political home base of activists who want to flood our country with more millions of illegal aliens, who hate and would defund our police, and, ironically, are supporting U.S. military deployments and long term commitments in trouble spots throughout the world.
We strongly disagree with the Democrat Party that now advocates left-wing anti-American nonsense. Sen. Susan Collins has now taken a stand that dramatically strengthens their political machine. Yes, Maine Republicans have a legitimate reason to be disappointed that she ended up siding with the Democrats and their politically motivated impeachment sham and seems to find it difficult to criticize the leftist lies and manipulations that are driving America over the edge into a new way of government for our country.
Fortunately, in the crisis moment, clearer heads prevailed and 43 GOP senators did not jump ship. They voted with the Constitution, as did the vast majority of the Republicans in the House. The Democrats did this for political positioning and should not have been helped in that effort by any Senator, especially our Senator.
The Republican voters in York and the rest of Maine should know that we are on their side and we've got their back. We strongly disapprove of Senator Collins' support for the Democrats' on significant issues at a time when we should be standing tough for what we Republicans believe in. If we are to save America, we must support the Constitution and do our part.
